Plan a Group Trip Budget With a Shared Pot (Goa, Manali, Anywhere)

· 1 min read · By the Contriii team

Nothing tests a friendship like a group trip with vague money rules. A little structure before you leave saves a lot of awkwardness after you return.

Step 1: Set the budget together

Agree on a per-person budget before booking anything. Cover stay, travel, food, activities and a buffer of around ten per cent. Putting the number in writing prevents the "I thought we said cheaper" conversation.

Step 2: Open a shared pot

A shared pot is a common fund everyone contributes to. Early bookings and group meals come out of the pot instead of one person's account, so no single friend fronts thousands of rupees.

Step 3: Build the itinerary

Add stays, tickets and activities with dates and costs. Seeing the plan next to the budget shows whether you are on track before the money is spent.

Step 4: Log spends as they happen

Contriii reads UPI alerts, so many spends from the trip log themselves. Tag them to the trip and choose how to split: equal for cabs, by share for mixed groups, itemised for big dinners. See the eight split methods.

Step 5: Watch the budget

A trip budget with nudges tells you before you run out that you have spent most of the fund while there are still days left. Adjust plans, not friendships.

Step 6: Settle up once

At the end, the app nets everything out into the fewest payments. Each person pays or receives in their own UPI app, then marks it settled. Read how to settle up on UPI.
